Cousin of dead captive says Israel's Doha attack puts hostage lives at risk
From CNN's Helen Regan
Gil Dickmann, the cousin of Israeli hostage Carmel Gat, who was killed in Hamas captivity, said Israel’s attack against the militant group in Qatar puts the rest of the hostages’ lives “at a very high risk.”
Gat was killed about a month after Israel assassinated Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in the Iranian capital Tehran last year. She was one of six hostages whose bodies were recovered in an underground tunnel in Gaza.
“I really hope that Hamas does not use this as an excuse to mgmarket 5at hurt the hostages and to even do worse things to them,” Dickmann told CNN’s Lynda Kinkade.
“And I really hope that they’re not going to use it as an excuse to hurt the negotiations,” he said.
“The most important thing is that we stop this war. We end this war and get the hostages out.”
Dickmann appealed to US President Donald Trump, saying there was an opportunity for a deal to be struck.
“It could be with Qatar, it could be with Egypt. It doesn’t really matter to us. And I think it is Trump’s chance to get this over with,” he said.
